Celebrating “Outstanding” and Standing Out

Posted by Machias Savings Bank on Dec 8, 2017 2:10:11 PM

Since 2005, the Machias Savings Community Development Grant has awarded up to 50,000 annually to non-profits who are changing the face of our communities.

Being able to pitch in to help uncover solutions to some of Maine's toughest challenges, like addiction, hunger and affordable housing, is in its self a humbling feeling. Thriving communities are built upon partnerships and we are proud to be a supporter to the following 11 non-profits and recipients of our 2017 grant:

Arise Addiction Recovery, Families First Community Center, Adopt-A-Block, Family Crisis Services, Housing Authority of the City of Old Town, MCH’s Home to ME Program, Maine Seacoast Mission, MaineStream Finance, The Aroostook County Action Program, The Herring Gut Learning Center and Immigrant Legal Advocacy Project.

We also celebrated our second year in a row receiving our own Community Reinvestment Award - a national rating of “Outstanding” from the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) on its recent Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) Performance Evaluation.  The “Outstanding” rating, which is bestowed upon less than 10% of banks nationwide, is clear testament to Machias Savings Bank’s overall commitment to meeting the needs of all segments of the communities in which we operate.
