Like most mornings, it's hectic at the Vose household.  Everyone is up and getting ready for another day of school and work.  Packing lunches, making sure homework is in the backpack, uniforms in the duffle bag, feeding the pets, answering rapid fire meaning-of-life questions from an eleven year old, and handing out 10 dollar bills like an ATM.  It looks and feels like a typical Wednesday morning for wife and mother-times-three, Heather.  Probably many of you can relate as you balance being a wife/mother with working and volunteering.  It's an around the clock job with very little free time!

On Stage with Junior Achievement

Gaven, Brookelyn, Tia and Ethan, sixth grade students from Rose M. Gaffney Elementary school in Machias, Maine, took the stage with poise and confidence at Junior Achievement's recent Hall of Fame North Banquet hosted at the Hilton Garden Inn in Bangor.  Led by their financial literacy volunteer, Melissa Moffett, and standing before a crowd of over 350 people, they each held signs representing a topic they were exposed to and became passionate about through lessons taught by Machias Savings Bank.

Early in 2016, two young, budding entrepreneurs, both having recently returned home to Downeast Maine, had a vision. More specifically, they had a vision in a jar. 

And in that jar was cheesecake…with a twist. 

Literally.

Jordan Crosby and Nick Sarro, both 25, own Downeast Cheesecakes, where their signature sweet slices of cake, baked and sold in all-American mason jars, have quickly become a celebrated sensation.

Farm-to-Table Takes a Leap in Houlton

The farm-to-table movement took a literal leap forward when Took A Leap Farm opened The Vault in Houlton this past February. Located in a former bank on Main Street, the new fine dining restaurant features a tasty array of locally grown, brewed and crafted  produce and products, including cheeses from owners Rob Lawless and Kathryn Harnish's farm down the street.
